Get ready for a multi-generational pop culture phenomenon unlike anything else! This Saturday, February 15th, Schoolhouse Rock Live comes to the Dallas Children's Theater! The Dallas Children's Theater is an outstanding venue for collaboration with local artists, designers, playwrights, and educators.
If you were a kid from the early '70s to mid-'80s, when Schoolhouse Rock was first on TV – or a child in the mid-'90s, when it ran again – you owe it to yourself to go back in time to the good old days of Schoolhouse Rock. The Emmy Award-winning Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math and more through clever, tuneful songs is not only making a small-screen comeback, but it's also lighting up stages everywhere – from school multi-purpose rooms to university and regional theatres all around the country.
Schoolhouse Rock Live follows Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as "Just a Bill," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly" and "Conjunction Junction." Based on the 1970s cartoon, this fast-paced musical teaches lessons with clever, catchy tunes.
Schoolhouse Rock Live will play at Dallas Children’s Theater from February 15 to February 23. The musical is recommended for ages 5 and older and will run without an intermission. Schoolhouse Rock Live tickets are $30.00 for adults, $28.00 for youth, and $23.00 for seniors. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.dct.org.
